T895 started a community U.S.A Flag lease project within the Pearce Home Owners Association. The scout troop will display a 3x5 ft. flag on a 10ft pole on 5 flag days per year in front of each home that is signed up. Our first display day will be July 4, 2010.
We kicked the program off on Monday night 5/17/2010, and in the first hour we sold 42 flag leases. Our goal is to have a flag in front of 90% of the homes in the JJ Pearce HOA on each of these flag days.
The flag lease program will raise funds to help support to troop scouting program and offers boys a way to pay their own way (one of the goals of scouting). Each hour a boy puts into the program helps them earn credit that they can use to pay for scout camps and equipment needed to participate in the program. The flag lease project area is bordered by Campbell on the North, Melrose on the South, Coit on the West and Cheyenne on the East. (See the map above)
