With the start of a new school year, the boys will be in the gym for off season workouts. Although official team workouts will not begin until the end of October, the boys are looking forward to a great basketball season.
We currently have schedules posted. Check back often as we will post information on parent meetings, tryouts and clinics as it becomes available.

Camp Mustang is right around the corner. This years camp promises to be an enjoyable week for players of any skill level. With the same atmosphere and superb coaching instruction,
this years camp should be the best one yet.
Camp will be held at Pearce June 7 - 11, for students who have just finished Kinderagrten through Grade 8. To register download the form and return with your $125 fee.

Congratulations to the Mustang Boys Basketball team for making the playoffs!
Round 1 of the 4A Region 2 Playoffs is this Tuesday night. Pearce will face the Denison Yellow Jackets at 8pm at McKinney Boyd High School. Directions to the location are on the links page.
Please come out and show your support by sending the team off Tuesday night on Senior Way @ 5:00. The bus will leave at 5:15. Afterwards, join us at Campisis on Coit and Campbell Rd. for dinner before the game. Mention that you are there for the Pearce basketball team and Campisis will donate 10% back to the Pearce Student Council to support their community service project of building a school in Pakistan. After dinner, come out to McKinney Boyd HS to cheer the Mustangs on to a win!

Team Finishes 2nd in District

The Mustangs will play their first playoff game on Tuesday, February 23 at 8:00.They will face Denison High School, a district 9-4A team.The game will be played at McKinney Boyd High School, and will immediately follow the Highland Park vs. Sherman matchup that begins at 6:00.
The Mustangs finished the regular season in second place, behind Newman Smith.The team went 10-4 in district 10-4A, with 21-11 overall record for the season. Newman Smith finished first with an impressive 14-0 run.
Please come out and support the team as they begin what could be a long run in the tournament.Playoff t-shirts will be sold at school during lunch on February 17 and 18, and are $10. Directions to McKinney Boyd High School can be found on the links page.

This Friday, February 12, is Senior Recognition Night. The Mustangs will play their last home game of the regular season against the Lions of RL Turner.
Festivities begin at approximately 7pm, immediately after the JV game ends. Senior players will be recognized before the game and cake will be served after the game.
The Mustangs thank the fans for all of their support at our home games. Come out to honor the Seniors at home!

Elementary School Night is Friday, February 5
After a deflating 44-40 loss to cross-town rival Highland Park on January 26th the Mustangs rebounded with decisive victories over Rockwall (54-35) and Rockwall Heath (74-52).
Pearce will face Greenville this Friday, February 5, at 7:30 in one of the last home games before playoffs begin. This promises to be an exciting game against a talented and athletic team that is fighting for a playoff spot within the district.
The Mustangs still have a very real chance to capture District 10-4A and must continue their winning ways.(Along with a little HP help in defeating Smith)

The Mustangs cruised to a 69-52 victory over Royse City on Friday, January 22. The two teams battled for the first half before Pearce gained control of the game in the second.
The boys travel to Highland Park on Tuesday, Jan. 26th at 7:30.It promises to be another spirited game between the two teams.Highland Park has been off their game of late and would like nothing better than to avenge the Mustangs’ buzzer beating victory earlier this season.Please plan to come early and enjoy another fun filled basketball game Tuesday evening.

Junior High Night will be Friday, January 22. Support the Mustangs as they face Royce City at 7:30 pm. The Mustangs lost a thrilling double overtime game against Newman Smith on Friday, Jan. 15thBoth teams had plenty of chances to win the game at the end of regulation and during both extra periods. However, Newman Smith prevailed winning 59-55.The boys bounced back well with a solid 66-46 victory over R.L. Turner Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs collected two more district wins on the road last week. They defeated Rockwall Heath 49-41 on Jan.5th, and followed that up with a 66-62 victory at Greenville on Friday, Jan.8th.
This Friday, Jan. 15th, promises to be a great matchup against Carrollton Newman Smith at the Pearce gym.Both teams come into the game undefeated in district (4-0) play. At stake is the top spot which is so important in playoff seedings!

Mustangs Get the Score
The Mustangs played a sluggish half-court game against Rockwall on Saturday. They prevailed in the end and won, 45-37.
The Yellowjackets played a gritty game and appeared determined not to lose at the buzzer as they did last season against the Mustangs.In the final minutes the Mustangs imposed their will and came out victorious.

The Mustangs began the Coca Cola Classic by cruising past Dallas Adamson 48-34.This put the Mustangs in the championship bracket where they then lost two hard fought games to Dallas Woodrow Willson and Dallas Pinkston, both of which will do very well in their respective districts.
The Mustangs now get back to business with only district games remaining on their schedule. First up is a home game against Rockwall on Saturday, Jan.2.Please come cheer on the Mustangs as they continue their quest to be undefeated in district play this season.

Congratulations to our Raising Cane's Half Court Shot Contest winner, senior Caleb Lewis. After a couple of exciting near misses at half court, the competition was moved to the 3-point line. Caleb was the first to sink a 3 point shot to win Raising Cane's for a year! Karyn Hawkins Cane's Area Manager presented Caleb with his prize.
The runners up in the Cane's contest were Cade Storey, Sarah Burns, Brooke Farmer and Garrett Thompson. They received a free Cane's meal plus a $10 gift certificate.
Our thanks to Raising Cane's for continuing this half-time basketball tradition during our biggest game against cross-town rival Highland Park.

The Pearce JV team took the Consolation Division title at the Jesuit JV tournament, held Dec. 28 -29.
The team had a first game loss to Jesuit's JV team, but went on to defeat Mesquite in a very physical game. They defeated Bishop Lynch to take the win in that division.

Sulphur Springs visited the Pearce gym on Tuesday of this week.The Pearce boys showed little fatigue from Friday's high energy victory over Highland Park as they turned Sulphur Springs away with a 64-39 victory.The game allowed for plenty of playing time for the entire roster and a good tune-up for the Dallas Coca Cola Classic Dec. 28-30.The Mustangs tip-off with Dallas Adamson at 1:30 pm Monday at Loos Fieldhouse .

Buzzer Beater Shot Gives Pearce the Win

The Friday night game with Highland Park lived up to it's hype, despite a low score.
The Mustangs faced a first quarter deficit with only three first quarter points. But the boys fought back for a 16-15 halftime lead. During the second half the game went back and forth. Students from both schools cheered loudly for their own team while pointing out mistakes of the opposition. The two teams traded blows throughout as every possession seemed to have the game in the balance. Much of the large crowd remained on its feet with never a quiet moment from the opposing student sections.
Finally, as the buzzer sounded, Darius Revels’ three point attempt trickled into the basket resulting in an unforgettable 45-44 Pearce Mustang victory over Highland Park.

Pearce is set to play Highland Park at home on Friday, December 18th. Raising Cane's will return for their famous half court shot contest to be held at halftime.
Recently, the Mustangs continued to tune up for district play with two victories 130 miles apart.First was Mabank High School on Friday, Dec. 11.Different combinations of players were utilized as the Mustangs cruised to a 69-66 victory down south.Then on Monday the boys headed north to Gainesville, TX where they played the Gainesville High School Leopards.This appeared to be another tune up game as everyone saw the court and various combinations of players were utilized.The Mustangs came out victorious with a score of 56-34.
Now the team is looking forward to Friday’s game with Highland Park.Friday night promises to be a great game with both teams wanting to make an early statement in district 10-4A. Please come early and cheer for the Freshman, JV and Varsity units as they sweep Highland Park out of the gym!

JV wins 3rd in Grapevine
JV Mustangs made their presence known this weekend in Grapevine, taking third place in Grapevine JV tournament.
After an easy win over the Home School Athletic Association, the Mustangs faced a tough challenge in their game against 5A Hebron. Hebron JV was undefeated going into Friday's game, but was defeated by Pearce with a three point win.
Pearce went on to play Coppell, another 5A team but was unable to pull out the win, and lost by only four points. Coppell went on to defeat Mansfield in the championship game. Pearce defeated Ft. Worth Christian to take third place.
Pearce was excited by the win. They will travel to Gainesville on Monday and return to play Highland Park at home, 6pm on Friday, December 18.

The team has earned its current Texas State 4A ranking of 14th by performing well while enduring a very difficult schedule.The Mustangs have competed with many of Texas’ Class 4A and 5A top rated teams.The Mustangs have two more away games at Mabank and Gainesville. District play opens with a game against a Highland Park team that would like nothing more then to come into our gym and be victorious.

On December 1st the state's tenth ranked team, Frisco Wakeland, came to the Pearce gym and defeated the Mustangs in a thrilling overtime game that kept the crowd on its feet throughout the second half.The Mustangs fought throughout the fourth quarter to eventually come back and tie the score at the final buzzer and push the game into overtime where they were eventually defeated by a score of 59-51.It was a tremendous effort put forward by the Mustangs who were playing without one of their top players due to injury.
This game was followed on December 8th with the visiting Forney Jackrabbits.The Mustangs were able to jump to a large lead early in the game and never looked back.Multiple players participated and contributed to the 55-53 victory that was not as close as the score would indicate.

JV at Colony Tournament
JV recently completed The Colony JV Tournament by winning the consolation division championship.
The JV Mustangs had a tough first game against The Colony, and suffered a loss. They rebounded by winning their second game against Prestonwood Christian. They went on to defeat Denton Ryan JV to win the championship for the consolation division.
They try again in their next tournament, the Grapevine JV Tournament, December 10-12.

On Tuesday, Nov. 24th the Mustangs learned that they had earned a ranking of 15th in Texas 4A teams based upon their strong performance in Pasadena. The boys did not disappoint that night with an entertaining 74-71 victory over 5A and previously undefeated Irving MacArthur.
Next on the agenda was the Avery Air Invitational tournament where the boys went 1-2 over the weekend. They opened the tournament with a convincing win over Frisco Liberty. Later that afternoon they were defeated by 5A Garland Naaman Forrest who jumped on the Mustangs for an early 12 point lead and eventually defeated the Pearce group by 11 points. Saturday the boys tipped off against 5A Plano High. Again the Mustangs fell into an early deficit. The boys showed their resolve by overcoming a 14 point deficit in the 4th quarter only to lose at the buzzer.
Come see the Mustangs as they play a solid Frisco Wakeland team at home on Tuesday, December 4th. JV tips off at 6:00 and Varsity at 7:30.

JJP is participating in the ‘First Annual Avery Air Invitational’ Friday, Nov. 27 and Saturday, Nov. 28. This tournament, with name sponsors such as 103.3 ESPN radio, On the Border and Dr. Pepper promises to be very exciting as the field of 8 DFW teams is very strong. Come join the fun as Texas’ 15th ranked Mustangs kick off the tournament with a 9:00 am Friday tipoff vs. Frisco Liberty. Pearce will play again Friday at either 3:45 or 5:25 pm based on the results of the earlier game.

2009-20010 Varsity Team
The Mustangs had a great tournament at the McDonald's Texas Invitational in Pasadena.
The team won both games in pool play, beating South Houston 44-43, and Klein Collins (Spring) 70-66.
In bracket play the Mustangs suffered their only loss to McAllen, 62-69. This put them in the consolation bracket where they went on to defeat Cinco Ranch (Katy), 52-42. They won the consolation championship game defeating Dawson (Pearland) in a 64-55 win.
In total they were 4-1 for the weekend and came away consolation champions for their division. Very nice work against some very tough teams.
Come watch them play Tuesday, November 24 as they take on the Irving MacArthur Cardinals. JV plays at 6:00 and Varsity at 7:30.

This prestigious tournament features top teams from Texas and Louisiana. Pool play will begin on the 19th, with bracket games to follow.

Mustangs to Play Lakeview Centennial

The Mustangs play away Tuesday, November 17th, against Garland Lakeview Centennial. JV plays at 6pm and Varsity at 7:30. Directions to Lakeview Centennial are on the links page.
Last week the teams scrimmaged Denton Ryan and Lake Highlands among others. This is an important week as Varsity finishes preparing for the Texas Invitational Tournament in Pasadena.
