by Pleae Plan To Attend
July 17, 2010
It has been an interesting sixteen months for the Narrow Trail Pastoral Search Team running ads, interviewing prospects, and visiting churches to hear sermons from potential candidates trying to find a permanent Pastor for Narrow Trail Cowboy Church.
The Pastoral Search Team is pleased to announce that this Sunday we will be voting on a Pastor to lead Narrow Trail Cowboy Church.
Our interim Pastor, Jay Smith and his wife, PJ have decided to stay on with Narrow Trail. However, according to our bylaws, we must vote on this decision as a whole.
PLEASE plan to attend church this Sunday, July 18 so your vote can be counted.
Thank you, The Pastoral Search Team

"Welcome Home a Hero"
Narrow Trail Cowboy Church would like to encourage you and your family or friends in joining us to meet and greet the troops each month as we encourage and support our deployed military. The Troops Ministry Team at NTCC is committed to participating in the R&R Program this month and is planning on meeting at DFW Airport twice a month in the future if possible.
To learn of expected flight arrivals, call 972.574.0392 for a recorded message. You may call after 8:30 p.m. at night up until the flight arrives the next morning. Though most flights are expected to arrive between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., the key is to be flexible as this does change, sometimes even at the last minute. Please know that the Military does their best to keep us informed. You will want to check the recording several times in the morning before coming to the airport. The troops arrive at Terminal D, Gate 22. You may park in the lot located on the ground level. You will walk across to greet the troops in the Arrival Hall. Parking passes will be issued as you arrive so there is no parking fee or charge to your toll tag (toll tags must be taken down before entering the airport, since we are unable to reimburse toll tags).
If you would like to participate please contact Rachel Pope or Christi Lott. It may be possible to car pool with someone since gas is so expensive! It’s also makes for a great opportunity to fellowship!

Join us for Bible study each Sunday after church.
We all have these questions, or have had them in the past.
How can I be sure that I am a Christian?
Can I lose my salvation?
Why is the the Bible so hard to understand?
What does the Bible say about baptism?
What is the Lord’s Super?
How can I pray more effectively?
Join us right after the Sunday Morning Service and we will have a Bible Study with a little Cowboy History thrown in. The Saddle Up For The Trail bible study meets in the General Store starting at 10:45. Get a cup of coffee after Church and ask somebody to show you where the General Store is.
Extreme makeover
Chuckwagon gets refurbished in time for parade
July 03, 2009
Photos by Bob Vernon
It took some long, hot nights and a lot of sweat and sawdust, but the Narrow Trail Cowboy Chuch chuckwagon got an extreme makeover, just in time for the Independence Day Parade.
With church volunteers working nights and weekends, the chuckwagon was dismantled, rebuilt, sanded and repainted so that it looks better than ever.
Doug Parchman headed up the restoration and worked hard to use as much of the original wagon parts as possible. Though the floor of the wagon had to be discarded and rebuilt with new lumber, the wagon sides survived.
The chuckwagon's striking color scheme makes it an attention-getter, and it won't be long before it starts rolling out to a variety of events to help the Cast Iron Cowboys expand their chuckwagon ministry.
The church would like to offer a huge thanks to Doug for volunteering his garage, and thanks to all the volunteers who gave of their time to help make this achievement possible.
It was with great pride that the church was able to roll out the chuckwagon to participate in this year's parade.

NTCC's Independence Day Parade entry earns accolades

Narrow Trail participants in the 2009 Plano Independence Day Parade pose prior to the start of the parade. The NTCC float won Best Musical Entry in this year's parade.
Though the Narrow Trail doesn't enter the annual Plano Independence Day Parade with designs on winning a prize, it is nice to be recognized.
And this year, the NTCC entry was recognized in a big way, as it was voted Best Musical Entry in the 2009 parade.
Ken Gleason, Parade Chairman, sent an email to Ann Parchman announcing the award.
Ann organized this year's entry and persuaded NTCC musical favorites Morris McCann and Randy Hopper to put their talents on display. Morris and Randy played through the entire route to the obvious delight of the crowds lining Independence Parkway.
As in the past, members of the church body walked the parade route handing out Texas flags. Church volunteers gave out more than 2,000 flags.
Congratulations to all who helped make this year's event such a success.

Pastor Jay preaches from horseback
May 19, 2009

Pastor Jay Smith preaches from the saddle at the Narrow Trail Cowboy Church.
Last Sunday, the congregation at the Narrow Trail Cowboy Church had quite a surprise when the preacher, Jay Smith, a cowboy from Campbell, Texas, delivered his sermon on horseback.
Now having horses at church is not uncommon at cowboy churches, but it was a first for the Narrow Trail, as we meet in the biergarten of a honky tonk and not at some rodeo arena.
To see a cowboy on horseback suddenly appear in the pulpit raised plenty of eyebrows. But the message Smith delivered was powerful and was driven home even more by having his trusty horse, Brazos, with him.
Smith, who raises miniature horses, also had his granddaughter, Kirsten, ride in on little Rusty.
The lesson was on faith and trust. It was straightforward and artfully illustrated with the two horses sharing the focus of the entire congregation.
After the sermon, the congregation voted to keep Smith as our interim preacher until the search team can find a new preacher for the church.
If you're curious about the Narrow Trail Cowboy Church, reach out to one of our team leaders through the Contact Us link at the top of this page. You'll find out that whether you ride a horse, drive a truck or even if you've just bought your first pair of cowboy boots, you're welcome at the Narrow Trail.

Called from the saddle
Jay Smith preaches what he knows
April 26, 2009
Bob Vernon
Visiting preacher Jay Smith of Campbell, Texas, offered his testimony at the Narrow Trail Cowboy Church on April 26. Smith will be preaching for three more Sundays at the NTCC.
Visiting preacher Jay Smith says he realized the importance of living a life that's true to God when a friend told him that "you might be the only bible someone ever reads."
A longtime cowboy from the Rose Oak Ranch in Campbell, Texas, just east of Dallas, Smith told the Narrow Trail Cowboy Church that God "called me from saddle leather." This former soldier returned to civilian life suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, which caused him to self-medicate himself with alcohol. God, he said, helped him overcome that addiction to beer and Irish whiskey.
"I realized I didn't need any false euphoria," he said, "because God is giving me all I need."
And though he knew that God had forgiven him for his sins, Smith couldn't forgive himself until his wife, PJ, asked him: "If God can forgive you, why can't you forgive yourself? Are you better than God?" At that point, Smith realized that God's forgiveness is complete, and that past sins have been washed away."
Smith will be preaching the next three Sundays at the Narrow Trail. Come listen to his message.
Herd displays a 'Can Do' attitude
Bring aluminum cans to raise funds for NTCC
April 11, 2009
The Narrow Trail Cowboy Church is starting an aluminum can drive to raise funds for the church.
It might seem like a small thing, but recycling aluminum cans is one way you can help support the Narrow Trail Cowboy Church.
At the April Leadership Team meeting, a can drive was suggested as a simple means for the church to support the community, support the environment, and add a few coins to the church coffers.
Christopher White volunteered to collect the cans and to redeem them at the recycling center, with all proceeds going to the church. The suggestion became a motion and was approved with a unanimous vote.
"We all buy drinks in aluminum cans, so why not collect them for the church?" White said. "It's a simple and painless way to give to the church, and help the environment at the same time."
So congregation members are encouraged to bring their aluminum cans to church each Sunday and place them in the central collection place.
It's the least we CAN DO!

Dalton serenades the congregation at the Narrow Trail Cowboy Church Chili Cookout on March 29.
The congregation of the Narrow Trail Cowboy Church enjoyed a huge surprise at the Chili Cookout as Dalton White took to the stage for an impromptu performance.
Dalton's been taking guitar lessons for awhile now, and he proudly took the stage and showed off his guitar licks and his fine singing voice as he performed about half a dozen songs.
Shoot, ol' Dalton even took requests!
The audience was thrilled and delighted to see Dalton perform. We eagerly anticipate his next performance.

Lisa Brunson and Jewel Gruer look over books at the Used Book/CD/DVD Sale held March 29.
The Lord continues to bless the Narrow Trail Cowboy Church with excellent weather for our outdoor events. Last Sunday was no exception as the Chili Cookout enjoyed bright sunshine, warm temperatures and blue skies.
With 10 different kinds of chili on hand and plenty of side dishes and desserts, the cookout proved to be a great success. Thanks to all who brought food, even Jim Hazlewood, whose habanero chili melted the hearts and stomachs of those brave enough to try it.
In addition to the great food, the Used Book/CD/DVD sale was a big hit. Thanks to Ann Parchman for heading up the event. And a huge thanks to Doug Parchman for hauling everything around in his truck.
Proceeds from the sale netted nearly $400, which goes to various church events, such as our participation in the Plano Christmas and Independence Day parades.
Used Book/CD/DVD sale
Please contribute your unneeded items for the fundraiser
January 27, 2009

Finished with that book? Haven't watched that movie in years? Got some CDs you'd like to part with?
Well, bring 'em on! The Narrow Trail Cowboy Church is gathering items for our first Used Book/CD/DVD Sale. The event will help raise funds for some of the many activities in which the church is involved...and maybe even some events in which we'd like to become involved.
If you have gently used books, CDs, DVDs, games or puzzles, please bring them to church and put them in the collection box. Ann Parchman is heading up this event and she will gladly receive your offerings.
Ann will be collecting items until March 15. She will announce the date of the big sale soon.

Fritz Schultz wants you to pick it. That's "pick it" not "picket."
As anyone who has ever seen him perform knows, Fritz is extremely talented and he obviously knows his way around a six-string pretty doggone well.
now he's willing to teach you!
FFritz has a few open slots in his schedule for some lessons guitar lessons for anyone who is interested. If you're interested, talk to Fritz after the service on Sunday, or give him a call at 214-675-9979.

Allen Asbury & The Brooks Brothers
Performance shakes the rafters at the Narrow Trail
January 23, 2009
Randy Brooks, Allen Asbury and Bill Brooks put on an amazing performance at the Narrow Trail Cowboy Church last Sunday.
How can you improve on a Brooks Brothers performance with two of the most dynamic and powerful voices in the world of Gospel Music?
Well, you can't. But you can add to it.
And that's what happened at the Narrow Trail last Sunday. The Brooks Brothers not only took the stage and belted out some of their remarkable songs, but they added another powerful voice when Allen Asbury joined them in song.
Asbury, a nephew of Bill and Randy Brooks, is a major talent in his own right, as his hit song, "Somebody's Praying Me Through," attests.
The Brooks Brothers have encouraged, enlightened and entertained millions the world over not only on stage, but on international television programs as well. Bill has played the role of Jesus in the musical, The Promise, in more than 5,000 performances. Allen took over the role of Simon Peter in the musical and has performed it more than 3,000 times.
And these three world-class performers combined to deliver some amazing music to the Narrow Trail herd. From their booming version of "How Great Thou Art" to Asbury's solo hit, the trio provided a moving experience to the congregation.
They even joined in with the herd as Fritz Schultz led us through our traditional closing of "Happy Trails."
Our thanks to Randy, Bill and Allen for an amazing service. At the Narrow Trail, we are truly blessed.
2008 Christmas Parade
NTCC to march in annual yuletide event
December 07, 2008
The NTCC showed up in force and in costume for the 2007 Plano Christmas Parade. And the 2008 parade was no different.
The Narrow Trail Cowboy Church was well represented in the annual Plano Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 6.
Resplendent in traditional western attire, folks from the Narrow Trail escorted the chuckwagon as it made its way along the parade route.
The NTCC herd handed out Texas flags containing a message about the church. Church volunteers placed the church message on more than 3,000 flags.
Fall Gospel Roundup a hit
Great weather. Great music. Great fun. Great event.
October 26, 2008

Brennen Leigh, Morris McCann and Justin Kolb join Thomas Michael Riley on stage during the 2008 Fall Roundup at Love and War in Texas on Oct. 26.
It was truly a special evening at the Narrow Trail Cowboy Church's annual Fall Roundup on Oct. 26 at Love and War in Texas. The weather was spectacular. The performers were outstanding. And the experience was exceptional.
The lineup of Morris McCann, Brennen Leigh and Thomas Michael Riley was top drawer. McCann, an Oklahoman who launched his Texas musical campaign at the Narrow Trail two years ago, showed his gratitude by opening the event with a bang.
McCann gave way to Leigh, who teamed with her bass player, Justin Kolb to provide a set of entertaining, toe-tapping music.
Riley showed up ready to play solo, but he just couldn't pass up the opportunity to play with the likes of McCann, Leigh and Kolb, so he invited them up to join him for his set. The result was pure magic.
With McCann on guitar, Leigh on mandolin and Kolb strumming the upright bass, Riley orchestrated a set that was as enticing as it was entertaining.
The crowd was on its feet as Rlley and crew sang NTCC favorites, "Carrying a Cross," "Heaven, Yes," and "Livin' This Time!" Riley also performed such secular tunes as "Redneck Riviera" and "Cow Pasture Pool," all to the delight of the crowd that included members of the NTCC herd, as well as many new faces.
For the few who stayed after the event for "Open Mike Night" at Love and War, they received a special treat. Randy Hopper, who had played with his son Jeremy at church on Sunday morning, was the host of Open Mike Night. After he played a set, he asked for any volunteers from the crowd. Morris McCann was still around, so he took the stage again and played another short set solo with Randy's guitar.
The NTCC offers its most profound thanks to these marvelous entertainers who continue to support our church and Love and War.
Events like this make everyone each for the Spring Drive.
