The Lady Mustangs travelled to Allen and faced a very good Eagles team. A large crowd turned out to see a hard fought contest between two solid programs. Lady Mustangs Sweep Red Oak and Lake Highlands
PHS Moves To 2 - 0 On Opening Night

The Pearce varsity swept perennial powers Red Oak and Lake Highlands in its first two matches of the new season providing a measure of revenge after having lost to both on opening night last year. The Mustangs beat Red Oak 25-15, 25-20, 25-17 and beat Lake Highlands 25-17, 25-16, 25-21. Katie O'Brien led the way against Red Oak with 15 kills followed by Stephanie Holland and Sophie Orlich with 10 and 8, respectively. Shelby Sullivan contributed 6 kills and provided a long serving streak of 9 straight points in set one. Emily Wingate led the defensive effort with 13 digs and Haleigh Whittington led the setters with 21 assists. Lauren English showed her versatility in all areas and Anna Dawson contributed with solid defense. Against Lake Highlands, Shelby Sullivan led the way with 16 kills with Katie O'Brien adding 11 kills. Stephanie Holland contributed a 6 point serving streak. Emily Wingate again led the defensive effort with 13 digs while Caroline Weir led the setters with 21 assists.
Coach Meredith McIntosh-Kean joins PHS VB program

Meredith McIntosh-Kean received her bachelors degree in journalism from Ohio University and her teaching certificate from University of North Texas. Meredith is excited to join the Pearce team, teaching English III and coaching both volleyball and softball. Meredith and husband Chad were married this past September in Destin, Florida. Welcome to PHS!!
Coach Rhae Walderman joins PHS VB

Rhae Walderman has joined the JJ Pearce volleyball program as JV and Assistant Varsity Coach. Rhae grew up in San Antonio attending Madison High School. Coach Walderman was awarded a full scholarship to play volleyball at Sam Houston State University where she graduated in 2007 after majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. Further, Rhae received her Master of Arts in Molecular Biology from Southern Methodist University in 2009 while continuing to coach and play volleyball. Coach Walderman is excited to be a part of the state ranked JJ Pearce volleyball program. Go Mustangs!

Shelby Sullivan selected for U.S. Girls' National Team
Shelby Wins Gold In Guatemala

Pearce's own Shelby Sullivan was selected to participate on the U.S. Girls Youth National Team and defeated top-seeded Mexico to win the NORCECA Girls' Youth Continental Championship in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Shelby's team qualified for the 2011 FIVB Girls' Youth World Championship to be held in Turkey and has earned a spot in the first-ever IOC Youth Olympics to be held in August of 2010 in Singapore.

Jason Nicholson Named Head Coach

J.J.Pearce Volleyball is proud to announce the selection of Jason Nicholson as head Coach for the volleyball program. Jason began his coaching career in 1994. Club experience includes Mid-Cities Volleyball, Ozark Juniors and Texas Advantage. His club teams have qualified for Open Division each of the last eight seasons. Last year, Jason's team won the National Championship at the Junior Olympics in Miami. He has also worked as an assistant coach the past four years going to three regional tournaments and one state tournament. Division I experience includes UT Arlington, the University of Arkansas, and Texas Christian. Jason and his wife Chelsea have been married six years and have twin boys Grant and Reid. Congratulations Jason!
